It gives me great pleasure to welcome delegates on behalf of the Day Hospitals Australia Board, the Conference Program Task Force and the Day Hospitals Australia Staff to the 2017 National Conference to be held at the Sydney Showground, Sydney Olympic Park

DAY HOSPITALS - SHAPING THE FUTURE OF HEALTHCARE

Day Hospitals Australia has listened to delegate feedback from past conferences in developing the conference content this year and we are excited to present this year’s program to you.

With the objective of providing topics of interest to a wide range of delegates, this year’s program consists of a blend of concurrent and plenary sessions focussing on three streams all of which are crucial to running a day hospital or small hospital:

  1. Management
  2. Business Development
  3. Clinical

We are excited to announce the introduction of our Event App which will provide delegates with instant up-to-date information on all aspects relating to the conference. This App will facilitate the ability to provide immediate feedback at the conclusion of each individual presentation. Once delegates register they will be able to download the App immediately and commence viewing the program content, speaker details, venue/accommodation information as well as view trade exhibitor details. This will ensure that delegates will always have access to the latest information leading up to the conference and throughout.

The keynote address will be presented by Avril Henry, an internationally acclaimed keynote speaker, who is a game changer in the area of human resource management.

There will be many opportunities for delegates to participate in panel discussion sessions on topics of significant importance to the sector.

This is a challenging time for the day hospital sector with legislative and regulatory changes impacting several areas of Australia, as well as significant compliance requirements with respect to standards. Future funding for the private health sector is currently under review with respect to Private Health Insurance reform, PHI, issues surrounding prostheses costs and the current difficult PHI contracting environment. The sessions that the Conference Program Task force have developed endeavour to profile these challenges.

Day Hospitals Australia continues to advocate, represent and support the day hospital sector, in its role as the peak industry body, representing over two thirds of the day hospital sector. Delegates requiring more information can meet and talk to staff at the Day Hospitals Australia Trade Stand 8 in the Trade Exhibition Hall.
